around the quasi-blogosphere

Henry has long emanated this blog-like substance that refuses to conform to the normal format (e.g., providing a date, title for entries, RSS feed) of a blog. Still, it's good stuff. Among other things, he's recently linked to this clever animation of a bunny doing a song that would seem to be a variant of that classic sociological article "Why Your Friends Have More Friends Than You Do."

Meanwhile, Silent Jay continues to dribble forth his own blog-like substance that conforms to the normal format of a blog, only without any posts. He's still locked in his blogging brinksperson battle with Berkeley's Public Sociology blog, to see who can go the longest with zero posts.

Mathieu Deflem is raising the stakes by removing one post at a time from his blog until someone (not sure who) gives in.

Silent Jay continues to taunt us by adding links to his site at a rate of about one every other day.

Yes, Silent Jay takes advantage of the TypePad (Movable Type) template to have things brimming with potential. What I don't get about Silent Jay having a typepad.com blog is whether or not he is paying for it. I didn't think you could have a typepad blog for free. (I thought about moving JFW to typepad just so I could have categories for my posts, but opted against it not because of the cost but because of the hassle of exporting my entire blog.)

Does this mean that there will be no more Silent Jay once his month is up? Don't leave us, Silent Jay! You provide a sense of calm to the entire UW blogging community. You are Teller, and the rest of us are your Penn.
